The group All Electricity consumers protection Forum registered by CAC to fight for the rights of electricity consumers, serve as policy watchdog and helping in formulation of policy process of the industry turns 10 in March 14, 2024. The group started it’s journey to become the pioneer of electricity consumers Advocacy group on the 14th March 2014 with some few patriotic Nigerians during the epileptic power supply to their area in Ogba which today has become a reckoning in the fight against power sector stakeholders unwholesome practice especially the Discos who happened to be the closest to the consumers.
The group activities gravitates towards ensuring consumers getting value for their money and also obligations to protect the properties of the discos in their area for continuous improved service, impressing on discos to gives service delivery that guaranteed value for money and prevent any unwholesomeness in the process of cash drive activities in collecting receivables. And above all collaborates with the regulatory body , Nigerian Electricity Regulatory commission in policy formulations to reflect the mood of the industry participators, standard and quality of service delivery and other core values. All Electricity consumers protection Forum is also an accredited affiliates of FCCPC, Federal consumers competitions protection commission.
All Electricity consumers protection Forum,has involved itself in carrying out his objectives in many ways in the last ten years that makes it a household name and first point of call all over Nigeria when it comes to fighting and redressing any wrongs done by Discos to consumers and get remedy. These were done by engagement with stakeholders, regulatory commission thru yearly Consumers and stakeholders summit which involved all stakeholders present with direct interactive sessions with electricity consumers, organising protest, community engagement and road shows to demand for metering, estimated billings which germinate results that brings about Meter asset providers scheme, Capping methodology to stop discos indiscriminate and criminal billing of consumers above their usages as well as litigation on behalf of the consumers against the discos and Nerc over tariff increase without due process among others.
In other to bring news and information to consumers as relates to issues on power sector activities, All Electricity consumers protection Forum started radio program presented by the National coordinator, Adeola Samuel ilori on various radio stations in Lagos amongst are star Fm in 2016, Rainbow Fm in 2018-2020 and presently on Freshfm every Saturday 4-5pm on Freshfm Lagos 105.3fm.
It has been a tortuous journey so far and not without it’s up and down ,joy and sorrow, as the saying goes ,there is no gain without pains. The registered members of the group have been so supportive and on ground to heed the call of service anytime they are call upon, without which they won’t have been able to achieved the much they have done that makes the group a name to know when it comes to Electricity consumers advocacy in Nigeria by all and sundries.
As a general pallance, the reward for good works is more works. The group has now been well position to continue in their stride to see that Nigerians enjoy value for their Money and be sure that all laws of operations as regard working with discos and Nerc won’t be violated without consequences and that all consumers will be metered,the practice of community or individuals buying line materials like transformer,likes and cables will stop while promising the stakeholders of cooperation to help disseminate and propagate any policies that will bring about solutions to any problems bedeviling the sector that will give consumers values for their money.

It’s been nice growing in bit and leap in the last ten years and to God be the glory great things He has done and despite all moves to subdued us, we are here and waxing strong. Truly, as the good book says,when a man ways please the Lord ,He makes his enemies become his friends.
